If like many UK residents you are self-isolating, it can be difficult to maintain a routine and look after your mental wellbeing. Even for those who consider their mental wellbeing to be strong and healthy, social distancing can be difficult, and often self-care is the first thing to be neglected. The team at Salt of the Earth have put together some helpful tips to give you some ‘little lifts’ throughout the day to motivate you whilst working from home, boost your self-confidence and generally improve your mental wellness.
Stay Active
One great way to boost endorphins and keep yourself occupied is exercise. Whether you are a weightlifter or a yogi, many industry giants such as Nike have made their fitness apps free during the COVID-19 crisis. Try downloading the Nike Training Club app to access pro workouts, or the Down Dog apps for guided yoga classes and HIIT. Until 1st May 2020, Down Dog are offering their apps (Down Dog, Yoga for Beginners, HIIT, Barre, and 7 Minute Workout) for free. They are also extending free access until 1st July 2020 for healthcare professionals.
Take 10 for Zen
The coronavirus outbreak is a stressful time for everyone. Whether you are a healthcare professional, business owner or an office worker, taking 10 minutes out of your day to practice mindfulness is a good way to give our brains a break. We suggest downloading a guided meditation app such as Smiling Mind (it’s free!), reading a chapter of a favourite book, or listening to some of your favourite music.
Detox
If your absence of weekend plans is giving you the blues, why not spend this Sunday indulging in some self-care? A detox day is a great way to help you feel refreshed, revitalised, and ready for another productive week.
Face Masks
Applying a face mask is a great way to relax, as well as offering lots of benefits for your skin. If your face is feeling dull and vitamin D-deprived, try a brightening mask, or if your pores feel clogged, try using an exfoliating or detoxifying mask on your t-zone (nose, forehead and chin). Holland & Barrett offer a great range of natural and organic face masks.
Bath Salts
Drawing a bath and using detoxifying salts help muscles to recover after working out and reduces the feeling of muscle tightness and discomfort. Bath salts can also be used to relieve stiff and aching joints (from sitting in that makeshift office chair all day!) and can be found on online retailers such as Amazon with quick delivery options.
Natural Body Care
If you are attempting a full-body detox, using natural body care products such as a natural deodorant is a great way to eliminate toxins such as heavy metals and BPAs. The Salt of the Earth range of natural deodorants are made with 100% natural ingredients and are vegan, cruelty free and kind to skin. Browse our extensive range of effective natural deodorant roll ons, sprays and refills here.
Stay in Touch
Although the world may be social distancing, it doesn’t mean that you must be disconnected! Keep in touch with friends with the many video-chat apps available such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Facetime, or simply give your friends a call. These unprecedented times are a great opportunity to reconnect online with an old childhood friend or estranged family member.
