A milestone achievement for our family run Hampshire natural deodorant brand
We're absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news – Salt of the Earth has been honoured with the prestigious King's Award for Enterprise 2025 - International Trade! This recognition, which marks our 58th award to date, celebrates the remarkable growth our independent British brand has achieved over the past four years.
What is the King's Award for Enterprise?
The King's Award for Enterprise (formerly known as The Queen's Award for Enterprise) is the most prestigious business award in the UK. Established in 1965, it recognises outstanding achievement by UK businesses across categories including International Trade, Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Promoting Opportunity.
This year, Salt of the Earth is one of just 197 organisations nationally to receive this esteemed honour, joining an elite group of businesses that exemplify British excellence and innovation.
Our International Growth Journey
The award specifically recognises our impressive 137% growth in international sales over the last four years. We've successfully expanded our reach into key markets including Greece, Hungary, Finland, the Benelux countries, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and South Africa.
It's been quite a journey since my mum Sally and I took over the brand in 2005. What began as a single crystal deodorant has evolved into one of the world's most comprehensive ranges of natural deodorants – with 65 different products now available in markets around the globe. To date, we've sold over 9 million deodorants worldwide.
As the Managing Director, I'm incredibly proud to receive the King's Award for International Trade. As an independent family business, it's a tremendous honour to see our products reaching customers across so many international markets. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team, the strength of our international distributor network, and the increasing global demand for high quality personal care products that are certified natural. Our long term commitment to developing effective certified natural deodorants while offering refill and reuse options has created strong connections with both retailers and consumers worldwide.

Certified Natural, Ethical, and Sustainable
At the heart of our success lies our unwavering commitment to creating products that are authentically natural, ethical, and independently certified:
- COSMOS Natural certification from the Soil Association ensures our products contain 100% natural origin ingredients. This certification requires rigorous compliance throughout our supply chain, including sourcing any palm derived materials as RSPO certified sustainable in line with the latest COSMOS standard.
- Vegan Society and Vegetarian Society approved – all our products are completely free from animal derived ingredients and by products.
- Leaping Bunny approved – the gold standard for cruelty free cosmetics, going above and beyond legal requirements to ensure no animal testing occurs at any stage of product development.
- B Corp certification – the globally recognised standard for businesses meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
- Living Wage accreditation – ensuring all our team members receive fair compensation that reflects the true cost of living.
Made in Britain
We're proud that our products are manufactured at our own facility in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire. This in-house manufacturing capability has been instrumental in our ability to innovate and develop new products that meet the diverse needs of consumers around the world.
Our commitment to British manufacturing has allowed us to maintain stringent quality control. We manufacture our stick, spray, roll-on and balm deodorants as well as their refills in our Chandlers Ford Factory.

Our Approach to Packaging
Sustainability considerations extend to our packaging choices too. For our deodorant spray bottles, we use Prevented Ocean Plastic™ – fully traceable recycled PET collected within 50 km of coastlines that lack formal waste management systems, diverting "ocean bound" plastic from the environment.
Since 2013, we've also pioneered refillable options across our spray, roll-on, and stick formats, cutting packaging weight by up to 70% when a 100 ml spray is topped up from our 500 ml refill bottle and helping customers reduce plastic consumption while saving money.
Looking to the Future
With this royal recognition behind us, we're setting our sights on even greater international expansion. The United States, European Union, and Middle East have been identified as key regions for future growth as we continue to develop effective natural alternatives to conventional deodorants.
In the UK, you can find our products at Holland & Barrett, Boots, Waitrose, Ocado.com, Amazon, many independent health stores, and of course, right here on our website.
We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our customers, retailers, and distributors who have supported us on this journey. This award belongs to everyone who has helped make Salt of the Earth the trusted natural deodorant brand it is today.
