The Inspiring Journey of 'Girls That Jog' with Laura!

Hey!

My name is Laura, I am the creator of girls that jog.(@girlsthatjog)

A little bit about me… my background is in Psychological therapies and research in the NHS. Wellness means a lot to me, and I recently learned that I can help people outside of my day job too in other ways. Outside of work, I voluntarily run a community in Cambridge called girls that jog. I was recently asked to be a brand ambassador for lululemon, meaning I have scope to do even more in the community and have an even wider impact. The aim of girls that jog, is solely to connect people with each other and with themselves.

Running for me, provided a space where I could navigate my emotions through a difficult time, and so I wanted to provide a safe space for others to use it in whatever way they need.

I moved to Cambridge 4 years ago, off the back of lockdown, and found that is was not easy to meet people organically. Therefore, my motive for creating this group was to allow people the chance to connect with their community, as this is where I found some of my now closest friends. Girls that jog is not just a running club, it is a place to meet friends, connect with other people, move our bodies in whatever way we need, and to feel good about ourselves in a non judgemental space. My goal is to reduce the stigma that may come with running, to remind people that we do not have to look or act a certain way, it is not necessarily the speed or distance that matters, but the feeling we get and the positive impact it has on our lives. A year ago I organised my first run, and 0 people showed up. This was not a reason for me to give up, because I knew there was a gap that needed to be filled.. so I tried again.

Now, fast forward a year, we have had nearly 200 wonderful ladies joining along the way, who have stepped out of their comfort zone, realised new potential, and have made new friends. The amount of people in a club does not define success, what defines success is the connections being formed and the smiles on peoples faces. To all the girls that have come along, or who will join in the future, thank you for being you and for being a part of this journey. I have a big vision in mind and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Never give up on what you love doing, if you love it enough you can make it happen.

Supporting Wellness Together:

At Salt of the Earth, we’re always looking for ways to support and uplift our community, especially when it aligns with our values of wellness and natural living. That’s why we were thrilled to contribute to a recent wellbeing event hosted by the inspiring Laura, the founder of "Girls That Jog."

When Laura reached out about the event, we knew we wanted to be part of it. We donated our natural deodorants to help ensure that every participant could feel fresh and confident throughout the day.

It was fantastic to see how these women came together to focus on their wellness and connect with one another in such a positive and supportive environment.

For us, supporting initiatives like Laura’s is more than just about providing products—it’s about being part of something bigger. It’s about fostering community, encouraging self-care, and helping people feel their best in every aspect of their lives. We’re proud to have played a small role in this successful event (along with some other fantastic brands!), and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Laura and "Girls That Jog" as they keep empowering women through wellness and connection.
