Salt of the Earth is a family-owned British brand making natural deodorants since 1993. We produce refillable sprays, roll-ons and sticks, plus balms, at our own factory in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, and our crystal deodorants are a single mineral, potassium alum. Sally bought the company in 2005, her son Thomas has run it since 2008, and it is still owned by the same family.
Our deodorants are certified 100% COSMOS Natural by the Soil Association, approved by The Vegan Society and certified cruelty-free under the Leaping Bunny programme. The business is B Corp certified and an accredited Living Wage employer, and holds two King's Awards for Enterprise: International Trade 2025 and Sustainable Development 2026. The exception to COSMOS certification is our crystal range, which is made in China.

Which natural deodorant format should I choose?
Five formats, one approach. Sprays dry fastest and suit gym bags. Roll-ons give the most controlled application. Sticks travel well and go on dry. Balms apply with your fingers and suit drier skin. Crystal is a single mineral with nothing added at all. Our sprays, roll-ons and sticks are refillable, and every refill is the same formula as the original.
How do refillable deodorants work?
You buy the applicator once, then top it up from a refill pouch or bottle instead of buying a new one. Salt of the Earth has made refillable deodorants since 2013, across sprays, roll-ons and sticks. The refill contains the same formula as the original, uses less packaging per millilitre, and costs less per use. Refills come in sizes up to one litre.
